8 Weeks Before Moving

  • Contact your children's school to arrange record transfers.

4 Weeks Before Moving

  • Change your address with USPS, banks, insurance, and subscriptions.
  • Notify utility companies and schedule service transfers.
  • Confirm moving arrangements with movers or truck rental.
  • Begin using up perishable food items in your fridge and pantry.
  • Pack rarely used kitchenware, books, and decor.

2 Weeks Before Moving

  • Pack essential documents (birth certificates, IDs, medical records) separately.
  • Arrange for pet transportation if needed.
  • Pack a moving day essentials box with toiletries, snacks, chargers, and clothes.
  • Confirm service cancellations or transfers (internet, cable, utilities).

  • Disassemble furniture and store screws and bolts in labeled bags.

  • Withdraw cash for moving day expenses and tips for movers.

Moving Day

  • Double-check all rooms, closets, and storage areas.
  • Take photos of your old home for records (especially if renting).
  • Ensure utilities are turned off and all keys are collected.
  • Keep important items with you (medications, documents, valuables).
  • Supervise movers and provide instructions.
  • Lock up and say goodbye to your old home.

After Moving In

  • Unpack essentials first, then move on to larger items.
  • Set up utilities, internet, and other services.
  • Update your driver’s license and vehicle registration if needed.
